Her black painted nails drummed idly on the desktop as she stared at the screen.
Blink. Blink. Blink.
The screen seemed to glare at her, the blank white Word document, the tiny black line winking mockingly at her.
"C'mon...think!" she hissed. Her nails continued to tap, and they felt as though they were drilling into her ears.
Blink. Tap. Blink. Tap. Blink. Tap.
"A murder mystery? No, I'm not feeling it...A romance, perhaps? I'm too stressed for romance..."
So many options and still the screen remained empty.
"And how to start? Once upon a time? In a land far far away? Or some obscure, strange entrance?"
Blink. Tap. Blink. Tap. Blink. Tap.
"Maybe with a quote. From the Bible? Ellen DeGeneres? Gandhi?"
It was just far too difficult to come up with something! There was nothing to write about. No one wanted to read these days, what with technology...
Blink...tap...
And malls...
Tap....tap...tap...
And science-
Ta-.
The fingers that had been drumming on the table leapt toward the keyboard, the black nails a blur against the white letters.
"Yes...science fiction. Sci-fi...just what I need."
